Warisan: Journal of History and Cultural Heritage was established on February 16, 2020, by the Mahesa Research Center.

Its inaugural issue (Vol. 1 No. 1) was published in April 2020.

The online ISSN (2746-3265) was obtained on October 22, 2020.

By the end of 2020, Warisan had been indexed in Google Scholar, Crossref, Garuda, and ROAD.

By the end of 2022, it was further indexed in Dimensions, BASE, and Scilit. Warisan has also consistently preserved and archived its data through LOCKSS, The Keepers, Internet Archive, and One Search.

In 2023, Warisan earned national accreditation (Akreditasi Jurnal Nasional) with a Sinta 5 ranking.
