Authorship Criteria

The Journal of Didactic Mathematics is committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing. Authorship must reflect substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript. All individuals listed as authors must meet the following four criteria:

  1. Substantial Scholarly Contribution: Authors must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study; the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; or the development of the research methodology.

  2. Writing and Critical Revision: Authors must have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

  4. Accountability: All authors must agree to be accountable for their contributions and to ensure that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All four criteria must be satisfied for an individual to qualify for authorship. Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged appropriately in the Acknowledgments section, with their consent.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the journal throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication processes. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that:

  • All individuals who qualify for authorship are included in the manuscript.

  • All listed authors have reviewed and approved the submitted version of the manuscript.

  • The author order has been agreed upon by all authors before submission.

  • All authors are informed of the submission and any subsequent editorial decisions or required revisions.

  • Relevant declarations, including conflicts of interest and funding information, are accurately provided.

Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and the written consent of all authors involved, including any author being added or removed. Such changes are subject to the approval of the Editor-in-Chief. The journal reserves the right to suspend the editorial process while the request is being evaluated.

Unacceptable Authorship Practices

The Journal of Didactic Mathematics does not accept guest, gift, or honorary authorship, in which individuals are listed as authors without qualifying scholarly contributions. Ghost authorship, in which individuals who have made qualifying contributions are omitted from the author list, is also unacceptable.

Authorship must not be based solely on administrative position, institutional affiliation, seniority, funding provision, or supervisory status. All authors must make genuine scholarly contributions and accept responsibility for the integrity of their work.

Author Contributions

Authors are encouraged to provide a statement describing their individual contributions to the research and manuscript. Where applicable, the journal may use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe contributions such as conceptualization, methodology, investigation, formal analysis, data curation, writing – original draft, writing – review and editing, supervision, and project administration.

The contribution statement should accurately reflect each author's role in the research. The use of CRediT does not replace the journal's authorship eligibility criteria.

Ethical Compliance

By submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Didactic Mathematics, authors confirm that the author list accurately reflects the contributions made to the work and that all listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript. Any suspected authorship dispute or violation of this policy will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures and applicable scholarly publishing standards.
